Photo Essay / Narrative Photography — Instructions Goal: Create a 10-photo story presented in a slideshow. Requirements 10 photos that work together to tell a story or express a theme. All photos must have a consistent style (similar lighting, color, composition, and editing). Images can be in chronological order or non-linear , but the sequence should feel intentional. Present your images in a slideshow with a title   Tips Plan your story before shooting. Take many photos and choose the strongest 10. Make sure each photo connects visually and narratively. Photo Essay Brainstorm Prompt Write down 2–3 possible story ideas or themes, then choose the one that feels most interesting to photograph. Think about a story, moment, or theme you can show in 10 photos . Ask yourself: What emotion, idea, or experience do I want to capture? Who or what is at the center of my story?    Watch this video for inspiration  Watch this video on COMPOSITION  All photos must be recently taken, no old photos You will be taking 15 photos - at least 10 shots in this assignment need to use the digital SLR cameras. All photos must be edited in Photoshop especially paying attention to contrast.  photos should not just be "done", but should be artistic and show evidence of good compositional techniques some of this assignment should be shot on your own time at home To get a proficient grade your work must show: intentional use of lighting contrast. a wide range of grays. pattern or texture. variety of subject matters, a variety of angles, and a variety of close up and far away shots.

  Dream Photography Assignment   LINK: dream photography LINK; dream photos 2 LINK: the dream collector NEW ASSIGNMENT: In this assignment you are going to begin by brainstorming bits and pieces from memorable dreams, ideas for creating an interesting and intriguing dream photo. You must use THREE photographs that you have taken and can use bits and pieces from other images from the internet. You should use features in Photoshop to enhance this dream photo (LAYERS, ROTATE, RESIZE, TASPARENCY, BRUSH ELEMENTS) . It can be a scary dream or a positive dream or something even crazier. Nov 4- ABSTRACTED SELF PORTRAIT

 This assignment has two parts.  1) For this assignment, you will be practicing with a variety of brush tools on photoshop. Download the sheet below and follow the directions.  Download brush practice sheet here 2) Once your are done practicing your brush skills, take a portrait of yourself or someone in the class. This should be: From shoulders up Clear and in focus Have some nice lighting/ contrast (dark and light areas).  Upload your photo to photoshop and use a variety of brush strokes to abstract your photograph. Some of the original photograph should show through and the lines should look integrated.  Your final photo must include: 1 original portrait photo that you took  At least 5 different brush stokes  At least 5 different colours  Have your brush work look integrated with the original photo Have some parts of the original photo shinning through
